Characters
I read a few blogs a few months back that had similar entries regarding TV characters. It follows a theme whereby you choose your all-time favorite 25 TV characters - that's the characters, not the actors. There are a few additional things to consider (rules):
* Does not have to be a show currently airing
* No puppets or cartoons
* No reality show people
* All characters must be regulars on the show
* No mini-series, unless it became a TV series
Most of the bloggers said they started with 60+ favorites and had to whittle it down. I, on the other hand, am struggling to find 25.
Now, I follow TV shows quite loyally and I watch ALOT of TV. I follow most shows to the bitter end and can only name a few exceptions where I didn't stick it through a bad season. So my problem is coming up with 25 characters that are truly my favorite that I'd put to "paper". It's like having a list of celebrities you could cheat on your boyfriend with less no repercussions - who do you commit too and who do you omit?
Anyway, I came up with my first 15 and will eventually see if I can't add 10 more to the list.
1. Diana (Jane Badler) - V - She's just evil. She's also a lizard. She killed off a fellow lizard with rat poison and framed someone else.
2. Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) - Bones - He's FBI and complicated - has a kid with an ex-girlfriend and is a former sniper.
3. Sam Seaborn (Rob Lowe) - West Wing - Smart, cool, ambitious and not afraid to date a hooker while working at the White House. And he's hot.
4. Ham Tyler (Michael Ironside) - V - 'cuz he's badass and always in a bad mood.
5. Hawkeye Benjamin Pierce (Alan Alda) - M*A*S*H - an amazing surgeon during a hellish war. Yet never loses his humor or need for a good drink.
6. Julian Sark (David Anders) - Alias - His loyalty is for sale but his true allegiance is to himself . He's a bad boy and sexy to boot.
7. Jean Pargetter Hardcastle (Judi Dench) - As Time Goes By - I have never not watched the show and not laughed at something she said. She's a savvy business woman who finally found her long lost love.
8. Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry) - Friends - 'cuz if I were a guy, this would be me.
9. Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) - Star Trek: Voyager - Kick ass BORG who's regained her humanity. Enough said.
10. Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Geller) - Buffy The Vampire Slayer - First kick ass girl of TV. I mocked the show from the title but learned to love it. Even through the Glory year of crap. She was vulnerable despite her super powers and she's smart, savvy and growing up while taking on those that would destroy the world.
11. Spike (James Masterson) - Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel - British. Vampire. Everyone's Blondie Bear.
12. John Carter (Noah Wyle) - ER - Carter was my favorite after Doug Ross. However, he stayed at County the longest and as the show focused more on character relations, he suffered the most but didn't stop pursueing life. I miss him.
13. Sydney Bristow (Jennifer Gardner) - Alias - She can kick your ass without even trying and you believe it. Hell, you get brused just watching.
14. Angel (David Boreanaz) - Angel/Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The brooding vampire. He's gorgeous even when his face turns all evil vampirey. He's smart, classic dresser. What's not to love?
15. Tom Quinn (Matthew MacFadyen) - Spooks (MI-5) - Episode 1 of Season 2. He rocked and although he leaves MI-5 in season 3, he is Bond, if James Bond was a regular guy.
