Home Opener!

Well, the Vancouver Canucks lost tonight. 6-4 to the San Jose Sharks.
Team looks rough on defense. Luongo is having a hard time with rebounds and we still don't have a second line. Naslund and the twins look great but I don't think they'll be kept together much longer. Team is taking too many lazy penalties (closing hand on puck!) and not capitalizing on the power play (1 for 4).
The night started off great. The Canucks hosted a free tailgate party - supplied a band (Dr. Strangelove) and free hot dogs and Coke Blak (tastes like fizzy coffee/kahula). Kinda blak. Went to the game with Todders as Little Mouse is spending some quality time across the border with friends - apparently that's more fun... something about shopping for Christmas presents.
So after a few free smokies, some Blak, we checked out the store. I want a new jersey - with a name on it this time. However, I've now found out that the 3rd official jersey (which I love but looks terrible on me) with the old logo has discontinued the jersey I currently wear. So if I want a name and number on it, I have to get it put on my current one rather than get a new jersey. Kinda sucks.
I'm thinking of getting Daniel Sedin. First, he scores a lot. Second, he wears 22 (my lucky number). Third, he has signed a multi-year contract so I know I'll get a few years out of it as I don't think they'll trade both twins and alone, they aren't worth as much.
Anyway, Sharks opened at the $1.48 mark. Not a good start and we never got ahead and constantly trailed. We can within one and then the Sharks got a shorthanded goal and a breakaway goal. Kinda clinched it from there.
I will say there was some good effort. Bieska seemed to make some costly turn-overs and take the sloppy penalties too but he had 3 points tonight. He might turn out, despite my hesitation for him. He's kinda my Sopel (who I hated on our team) at the moment - as I always need a player to hate. I'm hoping he'll change my mind. Fitzpatrick is in the dog house for me. Not living up to much.
It was an entertaining game and they got on the board and never gave up. The team needs some work but as the experts all say - 10 games from now they should be kicking ass... or trades are going to change the team again.
The Eddies are headed to the game on Monday in my place. Ovechkin comes to town for my next game. Whoo hoo. Go Canucks Go!
